Gum Disease (Periodontal) Treatment
Gum disease (periodontal disease) is the primary cause of tooth loss and other underlying dental problems. It is caused by an infection of the tissues and bones that surround and support the teeth. Gingivitis is a the first stage of gum disease and can become periodontitis if left untreated. The gums pull away from the teeth, leaving pockets where bacteria can grow and damage the bone that supports the teeth. Teeth may become loose, painful, or simply fall out.
A number of factors can contribute to gum disease including improper teeth cleaning, genetics, smoking, high stress, bad diet and even other diseases like diabetes.
The staff at Danada Square Dental Center will assess the condition of your gums and recommend an appropriate course of treatment, if needed. A new laser has been approved by the FDA to treat gum disease and does not require cutting or stitches (Laser Periodontal Therapy). Danada Dental is one of only a handful of Chicago land offices to offer this revolutionary treatment method.
